What's All The Racquet?

I've always been inspired by greatness. And although he may be in a little bit of slump lately, Roger Federer is another one of my heroes in life. As a spokesperson for Gillette, along with Tiger Woods and Derek Jeter, Roger was recently featured in a new TV ad campaign (that almost made me wet my pants). Check out the new spot below.

Federer's Nike commercials are legendary as well. Check out what happens when he gets an unexpected - and creepy - visit from his "coach".

Another Federer Nike spot in which Coach Creepy instructs Roger on the fine art of jammin' out . . . with his racquet.

You probably know by now that Lance Armstrong is another one of my inspirations. After recently breaking his collar bone in several places, he "recovered" by riding in the Tour of Gila, a five-day race, mainly through the terrain of old mining towns in New Mexico. Since it is not an internationally sanctioned event, Lance could not officially ride for his pro team, so he talked two other world class cyclists - Levi Leipheimer and Chris Horner - into riding with him as a warmup for the Giro (the Tour of Italy, which starts this Saturday). Note the Mellow Johnny's jerseys - the name of Lance's bike shop and the official "sponsor" of the team. Needless to say, they kicked butt. Here is a lighthearted video before one of the stages.

A couple more things before before we part ways for the week:

Big congrats to my niece, Meagan who is graduating from West Virginia University after a standout scholastic and athletic career as a star cheerleader. Way to go, Meg!

My buddy George just started a blog of his own. It's sure to be insightful, irreverent, and entertaining - just like The George himself. Check it out now . . . before he gets arrested. http://wisdomofpeeps.blogspot.com

Thanks for reading. Until next time, remember to pick up the pace and run your own race.
